Fisheries Improvement Program Steering Committee Meeting – Preparation for Marine Stewardship Council Certification
The Fisheries Improvement Program Steering Committee (FIP SC) meeting was held on Monday, 24th August 2015 at Gedung Mina Bahari III, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) as the follow up of FIP SC that was established on 18th March 2015.
Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) invited all stakeholders from the FIP SC in Indonesia to discuss activities and progress towards Marine Stewardship Certification (MSC). The stakeholders who intended this meeting were from Asosiasi Pole&Line and Handline Indonesia (AP2HI), Masyarakat Dan Perikanan Indonesia (MDPI), World Wide Fund (WWF), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and International Pole & Line Foundation (IPNLF).
Conclusions of the meeting included agreement to ensure that a MMAF task force is formed to act upon agreed priority tasks in the near future. These priorities tasks included Harvest Control Rule (HCR), a fix time frame towards MSC certification, the improvement of capacity building and communication among FIP SC stakeholders. The outcome of this meeting will be followed up by the stakeholders involved.
