AP2HI with PPS Belawan Execute BIMTEK SKPI and sustainable fisheries socialization to Aceh Tuna Handline Fishermen

(21/10) Aceh. Continuing FIP activities in the Western Area of Indonesia, AP2HI and the Belawan Oceanic Fishing Port (PPS) held Technical Guidance on Certificate of Fish Handling Skills (SKPI), and trained Aceh Fishermen to recognize marine animals classified as Endangered, Threatened, and Protected (ETP); and guided the fishermen to sign the SOP for the code of ethics of fishing vessels.

In the event which is held at the Balee Panglima Laot Lampulo, AP2HI delivered material on ETP, FAD management and waste management on board, while PPS Belawan delivered materials related to SKPI and safety at the sea.

The purpose of this training is for the fishermen/ABK to understand how to properly handle fish on board so that the quality of fish sold is guaranteed and to better know about which marine animals are included in the ETP, and as the efforts of AP2HI members to comply with the AP2HI code of ethics.

A total of 60 people attended this activity, consisting of 29 fishermen, invitees, representatives from AP2HI, representatives from Lampulo Aceh Port, PSDKP Aceh, Commander Laot Lampulo, PT. Winson Prima Sejahtera, PT. Aceh Lampulo Jaya Bahari, PT. Medan Tropical Canning & Frozen Industry, and PT. Era Mandiri Cemerlang.
