On March 3, 2023, AP2HI established a partnership with the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at Jenderal Soedirman University (FPIK UNSOED) to expand the Kampus Merdeka network. The agreement was signed by Dr. Endang Hilmi, S.Hut., M.Si., as the Dean of FPIK UNSOED, and Prayoga Miftahul Huda, S.Pi., as the FIT Coordinator of AP2HI. The event took place in the auditorium from 09:00 to 11:30 AM. The event began with the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, followed by speeches from both sides, the signing of the cooperation agreement between AP2HI and FPIK UNSOED, and a public lecture by AP2HI to the students.
This collaboration aims to enhance the capabilities and skills of human resources from both parties in Central Java Province, foster cooperation in education, research, and community service, and encourage the improvement of the performance of both parties in educating and improving the welfare of the community in Central Java Province, especially coastal fishing communities. Dr. Endang Hilmi welcomed this activity and hoped that the objectives could be achieved successfully.
The public lecture given by AP2HI to FPIK UNSOED students discussed the Pole and Line and Handline Tuna Fisheries Improvement Program by the Private Sector (Fisheries Association – AP2HI). In general, the improvement program consists of port sampling, observer on board, placement of Vessel Tracking Devices, placement of Time Lapse Cameras, socio-economic surveys, capacity building for fishermen, vessel registration, fisherman’s code of conduct, and daily catch data reporting. These programs can be followed by FPIK UNSOED students during their field activities. The lecture process was interactive, and the students were enthusiastic in asking questions about the material presented.
